We got the windows tinted

My husband is a shift worker and having the westerly sun beam straight into our bedroom was an issue. We looked at many other ways of blocking the sun out then discovered window tinting! My sister got her westerly side done and it looks awesome. Cut the glare down heaps.

I didn't want to block the windows out with an awning or hang heavy curtains inside to cover up the beautiful shutters.

So we decided to tint the front windows. We went with a dark tint with a reflective film on the outside so people can not see straight into our bedrooom/ensuite from the street. We can now have the shutters fully open all day without people seeing in. It's so practical!

  1. Looking Great Nel. We have exact same windows and west side lot as well. We thought to do the same as well.
One question though, Do you think Plantation shutters is a good option with tintin. We are having transparent curtains in the front wall as well. So I was thinking if we could be fine with venation blinds.

Also do you mind sharing the cost of tinting and from where you get it done? Were you happy with their service?

  2. We got shutters because we liked there sleek modern look and ease to clean. I was a bit apprehensive about not being able to see the shutters that we'd paid enough money for, but due to our other reasons for having the windows tinted, we still get to enjoy the look of the shutters from the inside. I wouldn't say shutters or venetians block out anymore light than the other. If your having sheers up over the window and thinking of tinting, I probably wouldn't go with shutters because they'd be covered front and back. Just my opinion though =)

The cost to do the 6 panels of glass was $313. Very cost effect when you think what awnings or roller blinds might cost. We used Alterpac. They were fantastic. So easy to deal with. Had no problems with them what-so-ever.
